What is SAP Signavio?

SAP Signavio offers a bunch of tools using which organisations can document their current business processes, understand where the bottlenecks are and figure out a way to improve their business processes.

In this blog, we are going to discuss more about what SAP Signavio is, how can you access the free-trial and what are the free courses available for Signavio that are offered by SAP.

Firstly, to start with, what is a business process?

A business process is a series of structured steps that an organisation perform to achieve a specific goal, such as delivering a product or a service to a customer. It usually spans across multiple departments and requires collaboration among various team members.

Some of the most commonly used business processes in an organisation are record to report, procure to pay, hire to retire, contract to cash, order to cash, plan to manufacture and many more. Big organisations usually have thousands of business processes that they manage on a day to day basis.

A business process may have bottlenecks. For example, let’s take a look at the procure to pay business process. It is a 8 step process. The first one is identifying the need for goods, then develop a procurement plan, issue an RFP, evaluate and select the vendors, place the order, receive and inspect the goods, process the invoice and make the payment.

Say for example there has been constant delays in the process step no5 which is to place the orders. Which means there will be further delays in receiving the orders from the suppliers. Say for example you manufacture cars and you rely on various vendors to provide you with thousands of different types of products that will help you manufacture the car. But if there are delays in placing the orders to the vendors, then that means the chain of events will cause delays in you manufacturing and supplying the cars to your dealers and customers on time. Which in a long run will affect the revenue of your organisation in a big way.

So it is important to understand how your business processes are performing and where the bottle necks are.

SAP Signavio offers a variety of tools to do exactly that. Using Signavio, you can document your current business processes, set KPI’s, analyse how they are performing on a day-to-day basis and understand the way in which they can be improved.

Now, let’s take a look at the different types of tools offered by SAP Signavio

Process insights:

The process insights module offers process improvement potential for SAP systems. By connecting to the SAP system, it downloads the metrics of business processes in the system and provides out of the box insights, improvement recommendations and industry benchmarks to optimise the business process performance.

For example, from the SAP system, it pulls information such as number of sales orders created in the past few months, how many of those were fulfilled and how many are pending. What was the time taken to fulfil those sales orders, how quickly the goods were despatched, how quickly the invoices were issued, how quickly the bills were paid, cash flow and so many business KPI’s like these.

Process intelligence:

It analyses and provides insights on how the business processes can be improved. Not just SAP but non-SAP applications as well.

Integrates with SAP and understands the current business process KPI’s and provides insights on where the bottlenecks are. The process intelligence tool will analyse all the information gathered through process insights and provide benchmark insights. For example, it will provide insights on how other organisations in the same industry are fulfilling the goods in a much faster rate than yours. It will also provide insights on why there is a delay in your organisation to fulfil the goods quickly and how to rectify the issue.

Process Manager:

This is where you document all your business processes. It offers a modelling environment using which you can document all your current business processes.

Journey modeller:

You can design how real people interact with you business and gain visibility into the experience and sentiment of your customers, employees and suppliers.

Process governance:

This functionality enables you to maintain organisational and regulatory compliance.

Process automation:

This tool will help you reduce the presence of manual activities by developing RPA bots. You can automate repetitive and manual business process to save time and eliminate errors.

Is there any free trial available for Signavio?

What about the free learning courses that are available for SAP Signavio?

There are a lot of courses and learning journeys available using which you can get a good understanding of the Signavio suite of products.

You can also get certified once you are comfortable. Getting certifications from SAP involves cost and I have made a video in my channel about the costs involved in using the paid subscription of SAP learning hub. Check that out if you are interested.
